Camping Commitment Statement As a follower of Jesus Christ and a minister of His Gospel, model a full understanding of Young Life’s ministry strategy and equip and lead a team of staff in providing excellent camping experiences for individuals to encounter Jesus Christ and know the truth of God’s love for them. Mission & Authority Through both continued training and direct experience, lead staff and prepare an environment where guests, staff, and volunteers are well cared for using the cornerstones of service, food, and systems. This is a role that oversees all of the Food Service Department; staff & development, buildings & equipment, administrative needs, and food & menu planning. ESSENTIAL PREREQUISITES FOR ALL STAFF MEMBERS (FROM YOUNG LIFE’S BYLAWS – ARTICLE VII): “Because of Young Life’s exclusive Christian purposes of evangelism and discipleship as set forth in its Articles of Incorporation and in these Bylaws, and to reflect what has always been and will continue to be the position of Young Life, specifically the Christian belief that each and every employee and volunteer of the corporation should minister as a servant of God with the primary responsibility of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and, as such, is an integral part of the Christian mission and ministry of the corporation, Young Life shall only employ individuals or enlist volunteer leaders who: (a) profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord; and (b) subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith. Attentive Hospitality: Equip servant leaders who anticipate and respond to the needs of our guests, staff and vendors, through Christ-like service. - Establish a department posture of service that anticipates guest needs and responds with professionalism through intentional decisions and systems. - Direct the planning, developing and evaluation of the menu according to the Young Life Food Service standards. - Anticipate and execute guest needs/requests in order to partner with our groups; meeting their needs and developing an environment where guests are heard. Talent Development: Through a consistent and accountable evaluation process, we identify and provide opportunities for staff in continuing education, leadership development, career-pathing and cross-training. - Demonstrate a desire to grow through engagement in the Individual Development Plan process and participation in training and development opportunities. - Foster department staff participation in the Individual Development Plan process as well as other training and development opportunities. - Intentionally pursue opportunities in mission leadership, personal growth, and development. - Establish and execute training for volunteers, work crew, summer staff, and camp staff with vision towards creating a pipeline for the mission. - Perform yearly evaluations for those responsible for supervising and ensure those staff participation in their IDP process. We frequently serve multiple meals in multiple locations at the same time, with kid-friendly options available at most services. That means the Food Service Manager gets to craft and execute a weekly menu tailored specifically to our guest profile rather than following a more standard national menu. About Trail West Lodge - Trail West Lodge exists to provide guests with the most meaningful family vacation ever. The Trail West team is looking for high capacity and fun-seeking ministers of the gospel who desire to serve on camp staff. As a staff at Trail West Lodge we prioritize professional, personal and spiritual development for all team members & we are committed to providing a high level of hospitality to all our guests. - As Young Life's only nationally run family camp, we host families from all over the country during the summer, with facilities and programs designed to invite guests into a deeper relationship with Jesus and greater involvement with the Mission of Young Life. During the spring and fall, we host Christian retreats and conferences from churches and para-church organizations. We are a seasonal operation, open from March - November and using the winter months as project season. - Trail West is located just outside of in Buena Vista, Colorado. Though Buena Vista is a small town, it has all of your necessities and a lot of outdoor activities to explore. Compensation Information - This position has an anticipated salary range of $48,308 - $72,616 per year based on education and relevant experience. - This position is eligible for Young Life’s Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). This is a geographically based pay adjustment meant to compensate staff for residing in an area that is more expensive than the national average. In Buena Vista, COLA is at 7%. - In addition to the COLA, this position is eligible for a monthly housing stipend. - This position is eligible for Young Life benefits. Notes Young Life is a relational ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff. Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important.
